Notes
Unohdan että unohdan is a result of collaboration with the Finnish poet Harry Salmenniemi. The starting point for both the poem and the composition was the shape of a cyclic quadrilateral (circle with a square inside it). Important features of this shape are the encounter of two contrasting forms (circle and square), cyclicity of the circle and the symmetry of the square. These specific geometric shape’s features direct the form, instrumentation and processes taking place in various parameters.
The idea of stretching textual and musical material as well as time is present throughout the piece. The meditative character of the music reflects the poem’s fragile, solitary and contemplative mood.
